Our programme for Early Childhood(EC) represents a paradigm shift in the way physical activity has traditionally been instructed. The primary goal of our programme for Early Childhood is to ensure that children engage in sufficient minutes of developmentally appropriate physical activity. Our EC curriculum and delivery ensures that all children are involved, highly active, incorporate school readiness skills, and become more confident and competent movers. Through LeapStart children participate in enjoyable activities, many of which integrate with other subjects like reading, writing, arithmetic, and wellness concepts such as trying new foods and being active at home with a family member.
The LeapStart Physical Education for primary grades offers instruction and practice in a realistic number of diverse skills and activities appropriate for kindergarten through second grade children. The curriculum is designed to introduce standards-based, developmentally appropriate activities without overwhelming students and to encourage maximum participation during class time. Active participation and practice in a positive, non-threatening atmosphere are the means for improving children physical skills, fitness, social skills, and personal enjoyment. Some of the major objectives of the LeapStart K to 2 programme include body and spatial awareness, locomotor and non-locomotor skills, directionality, pathways, levels and tempos, balance, small and large objects manipulation, flexibility, agility and strength. These objectives are achieved through units like Parachute, Manipulatives, Balance, Stunts and Tumbling, etc.
LeapStart emphasises health-related fitness activities; however, it is also designed to reach other traditional Physical Education outcomes, including the attainment of motor skills, knowledge and social values. The focus during class time, however, is on children being actively engaged. Rather than using valuable class time to disseminate fitness knowledge, this content is provided via LeapStart Home Play activities and during the cool-down and closure segment of each lesson
The LeapStart 7 to 12 programme was designed to be integrated into middle and high school Physical Education programmes and empower students to adopt life-long activity and wellness practices. Through this programme students apply the skills and knowledge learnt in the K-6 programme. Each LeapStart 7 to 12 unit addresses health-related fitness by focusing on high MVPA and inclusive participation. In addition, fitness-specific units are provided and are designed to be integrated into the weeklyPE routine. Game Time provides a unique approach to learning and developing the skills and techniques required for safe and successful lifelong participation m a variety of sport. The LeapStart 7 to 12 programme represents that next level of fitness and sport knowledge application
The programme uses the latest training methodologies culled from around the world and is built around a structured curriculum that progresses the participant through all the necessary skills needed to master each sport. The sports being offered under this programme are Athletics, Cricket, Swimming, Basketball and Tennis
